1958 – Renault 4CV

This car was inspired by the Volkswagen “Beetle” and was the first French car to sell more than 1 million units.
Some units were exported to Portugal, where the car received the humorous nickname of “Ladybug,” since the “Beetle” already existed and this one was a bit bigger.
With much secrecy, during World War II, the project for a small car was being developed inside the Renault factory, on the outskirts of Paris.
Finally, in September 1946, the small car was presented and only at the end of 1947 did the Renault 4Cv leave the production lines to be sold.
Initially, they all came painted in sand-yellow, which was used on military vehicles, because the factory had a very high stock of paint.
