The Lisbon Region is considered the most productive in Portugal, totaling around 55 thousand hectares of cultivated grapes, and this is due to the strong influence of the Atlantic Ocean.
Currently, the Lisbon Region is united by two regions that were formerly designated as: Estremadura (more to the north) and Ribatejo (more to the south). The wines from this Region have a lower alcohol content and are known for their lightness.
