1952 – Buick 56C Super Convertible

The Buick Super is a larger-sized automobile produced by Buick from 1940 to 1958, with a production halt from 1943 to 1945 due to World War II.

The first generation shared the longer wheelbase with the higher-level Roadmaster and offered the lower-displacement engine of the Buick Special.

The Super prioritized passenger comfort over engine performance.

For several years, it was designated as “Buick Eight” or “Super Eight” due to the engraving on the grille, while all Buicks since 1931 were equipped with the variable-displacement Buick Straight-8 engine.

This 1952 model became famous in the movie Rain Man, starring Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman.

In the case of this car presented here, it made a victory lap with the three drivers who won the 1st Formula 1 Grand Prix held in Portugal, at the Boavista Circuit on August 24, 1958. The top three places were awarded to Stirling Moss, Mike Hawthorn, and Stewart Lewis-Evans.
