Olive Oil, Cork and Wine Tour

This tour reveals some of the secrets of the Alentejo and its people through the best products that the land and climate have to offer.

This tour is tailor-made for you, because those who seek out the Alentejo are looking for the flavours that the land gives us and the passion with which things are done. A passion that is lived intensely, but at the pace of the Alentejo... calmly, very calmly. Only then can we enjoy life to the full with our friends.

This tour tells authentic, familiar stories that have been passed down from generation to generation, and we want you to take home fond memories of this day. We want you to feel like you are part of the Alentejo.

You will be able to taste olive oil as it should be tasted, olive oil that dates back to ancient times in Portugal, as olive trees already existed on the Iberian Peninsula before the arrival of the Romans, but it was the Romans who, from the 2nd century BC, developed its production on a large scale. This tasting will be conducted by a small producer who will open the doors of his home to us for an Alentejo lunch.

After lunch, we will have another experience, with something else that Alentejo produces so well: the wine.

We will also visit a cork processing factory, where we will explain the entire process from the extraction of cork from the cork oak trees to its transformation into various products. Here, this natural material is turned into art, as it is used to make figures representing traditional farm work, from the troughs where shepherds carried food to the fields, to the traditional troughs for drinking water. In addition to traditional items, you can also find all kinds of cork items produced in series rather than by artisans. But that does not mean they are not part of the heritage of the Alentejo region, as is the case with souvenirs, nativity scenes, key rings, bags, bracelets and much more.

We will finish with a visit to a castle where you can enjoy views over the Alentejo countryside and, as they say in these parts, where you can hear the silence.
